Tifft Nature Preserve

 

Self-Guided Discovery Kits

A perfect choice for groups looking to trek at your own pace, observe nature’s spontaneity, and weave your teachings into our activities. You and your students will discover nature’s mysteries and urban local history as you venture through Tifft’s trails using self-guided Discovery Kits. We’ll provide the tools and themed activities to encourage student-directed inquiry.

Self-Guided Discovery Kits $20 per kit

Adults: One adult required for every ten students. Adults in 1:10 ratio and required aides are Free.
Limit: 45 students

 

Discovery Kits: Grades Pre-K – 2

SENSORY EXPLORATIONS
Get the most from your visit to Tifft Nature Preserve by using your eyes, ears, nose, and sense of touch to discover the natural world. This program will encourage students to expand their understanding of nature through the use of their senses.

 

Discovery Kits: Grades 3 – 8

ANIMAL AND PLANT ADAPTATIONS
Students will learn how the plants and animals that inhabit Tifft Nature Preserve are adapted to their environment.

HABITAT IS WHERE IT’S AT
Students will explore the different habitats of Tifft Nature Preserve including the lake, fields, woods, wetlands, and ponds and study how each unique environment is able to provide the basic needs for the organisms that live there.

  • We require 1 adults (free) with every 10 students
  • Groups of 10 or more that are pre-booked can take advantage of the following pricing.
  • All chaperones in excess of the 1 to 10 ratio will be required to pay the discounted adult admission of $6
