Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Download the free Eventzee app on your device from the App Store or Google Play. You will need to create an account using your email address. Once you have logged in, input the event code of the challenge you wish to join under the “Join Event” section. You can join one, two, or all three challenges!
Can I join individually or as a group?
You can play any challenge individually or as a team of any number of players. Only one person in your group needs to download the app if you are playing any of the challenges as a team.
Do I need to be in the Museum to play?
All three challenges require the user to interact with or observe locations within the Museum. There are a small number of point opportunities in the Science Buff Points Challenge that require offsite travel (i.e. visiting Tifft Nature Preserve) or that can be completed at home.
What is Science Seekers Adventure?
The Science Seekers Adventure challenge is a self-guided Museum “scavenger hunt” for kids and families, suitable for all ages with adult assistance or kids age 13+ without adult assistance. On the first of each month, a new set of clues will be released that relate to that month’s theme. Clues from previous months will still be available after the month is over. Digital badges will be awarded to your account when you have completed all of the clues for each month!
What is the Science Buff Points Challenge?
Track your Museum experiences throughout the 12 Months of Science to earn points and the chance to win prizes! There are some point opportunities that will be open all year long and others will open and close at the beginning and end of each month.
To be eligible to win, account holders must be age 18+.
What prizes can I win?
There are two prizes for the Science Buff Points Challenge:
- Earn 100 points by December 31, 2025 to be entered into a random drawing to win a private planetarium show for you and up to 11 guests.
- Be the top scorer at the end of the year and win a Museum prize package valued at over $500! The prize package includes: a gift BMS membership or membership extension, a private planetarium show for you and up to 11 guests, 2 tickets at a Science After Hours of your choice in 2026, 4 tickets to Tifft’s Spring Eggstravaganza, merchandise from Stanley’s Science Shop, and more.
*Points earned for Escape the Museum DO NOT count towards points in the Science Buff Points Challenge.
How can I check the points leaderboard?
Be sure that you are in the Science Buff Points Challenge event then view the leaderboard on the bottom “Social” tab and then “Leaderboard.”
You can view the number of points you have in the Science Buff Points Challenge by choosing the “Event” icon at the bottom of the app then navigating to the “Player” tab at the top of the screen. You will see your current number of points under your username.
What is Escape the Museum?
Escape the Museum is Museum’s ultimate challenge for teens (recommended 16+) and adults. There are 9 total “escape rooms” that are available to play but they are not true escape rooms in the sense that there are no locked doors or even closed doors for that matter! Once you a room, you must complete a number of puzzles/riddles/codes/tasks to “escape” the room and win the digital badge. These are difficult puzzles that will require clues from around the exhibit as well as additional tools on your smartphone. Each puzzle you complete will earn you a point*, check your score on the leaderboard and compete against friends!
*These points do NOT count towards the Science Buff Points Challenge.
