Spring Into Space | School Break Activities

3… 2…1… BLAST OFF into space this spring break! Join the Buffalo Museum of Science Monday, April 14 through Thursday, April 17 to take part in daily astronomy activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. From space exploration to adapting to life in the final frontier, you’ll walk away “one giant step” closer to becoming the next rising NASA star!

Visit stations throughout the 2nd floor and discover how objects react to the vacuum of space and learn what’s critical to the formation of new stars. Put your engineering caps on to design, build, and test your own spacecraft. Learn how nebulas form and create your own with spin art before decorating your own solar system bracelets — or, dare we say, spacelet?

Representatives from the Challenger Center of Orleans, Niagara and Erie Counties will lead guests in space rock analysis and build mini rovers to take on a Mars test drive!

Additional astronomy community partners will join us each day, and BMS staff will present a variety of stage shows at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. that explore rocket fuel with liquid nitrogen, identify constellations, and examine what some of Earth’s toughest creatures can teach us about adapting to the extreme conditions found light years from home.

Activities are included with admission and free for museum members!
