Celebrate the Kellogg Observatory Grand Opening Weekend!
The Kellogg Observatory is a historic landmark that has silently anchored Buffalo’s East Side for nearly two decades, and is finally ready to open the skies for a whole new generation of explorers.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Kellogg Observatory and Buffalo Museum of Science rooftop space, the Museum will offer extended hours (10 a.m. – 11 p.m.) to the community on July 14 and 15. Throughout the day, guests will be able to participate in hands-on, astronomy-related activities facilitated by both BMS and the Buffalo Astronomical Association.
Guests will be able to access the roof deck (capacity limits apply) and peer through solar telescopes for solar viewing. Once the sun sets, guests will be able to step into the newly renovated Kellogg Observatory and peer through the restored Lundin Telescope (first come, first served).
